It takes time to heal. How often do we hear that phrase in relation to grief? Having gone through many stages of grief following the death of my daughter, I continually questioned the reasoning behind that statement. How much time? How long do we need to wait before we know we have been healed?

Discovering the Five to Ten Stages of Grief
Grief is an emotion that can take over your life, if you let it. If there is something funny to be found in grief it is the more you try and control that particular emotion the more it controls you. There are said to be anything from five to ten stages of grief. The number is dependent on the person who has studied and written about grief.

The pursuit of happiness is a wasted past time. The emotion comes and goes as swiftly and as regularly as the tides. Happiness can be a fleeting moment or a lifetime experience. It is totally dependent on how one chooses to feel at any given moment.

After the Miracles
It was somewhere during the first year after Emily died, it occurred to me the miracles that had been ever present throughout the pregnancy and again for most of the days of her life, had gone. This was almost as depressing as the fact that she was no longer around.
